  Automotive Antennas in the Status Monitoring of In-Car Charging Equipment

Physical Structure: Ceiling mount antennas are usually compact and flat, designed to blend into the ceiling for aesthetic purposes. They may be omni-directional (emitting signals uniformly in all horizontal directions) or directional (focusing signals in specific areas).

Automotive antennas are used to establish communication between the in-car charging equipment and external servers or charging stations. When a vehicle is connected to a charging station, the antenna enables the exchange of data, including charging parameters (such as charging voltage, current, and power), battery status information, and payment details. Through wireless communication protocols like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or cellular networks (e.g., 4G/5G), the antenna sends data from the charging equipment to the cloud server or the user’s mobile device. This allows users to remotely monitor the charging process, check the remaining charging time, and receive notifications in case of any abnormalities, such as overheating or a sudden interruption in the charging current.

Moreover, automotive antennas can also be utilized for local communication within the vehicle. For example, they can communicate with the vehicle’s onboard battery management system (BMS) to transmit charging status data. The BMS, in turn, can use this information to optimize the charging process, ensuring that the battery is charged safely and efficiently. In addition, antennas can be part of a wireless sensor network within the vehicle, monitoring various aspects of the charging equipment, such as the temperature of the charging cables and the performance of the charging controller. By continuously transmitting this data, potential issues can be detected early, preventing failures and ensuring the reliability of the in-car charging system.
