What is Wi-Fi7

With the continuous advancement of science and technology and the development of WLAN technology, many public places, enterprises, and families are increasingly relying on Wi-Fi and using it as the main means of accessing the network. Wi-Fi 7 is the latest generation of wireless LAN technology from the Wi-Fi Alliance, and its official name is IEEE 802.11be. It is the next-generation standard after Wi-Fi 6 (IEEE 802.11ax), providing higher data transmission rates, lower latency, and better network efficiency than Wi-Fi 6. Wi-Fi 7 will support a throughput of up to 30Gbps, which is three times that of Wi-Fi 6, which will greatly improve the speed and performance of wireless networks.

Wi-Fi 7 has the following main features:

1. In order to further improve the rate, Wi-Fi 7 will introduce 4096-QAM, so that the modulation symbol carries 12 bits. Under the same coding, Wi-Fi 7’s 4096-QAM can achieve a 20% rate improvement over Wi-Fi 6’s 1024-QAM. This is a more efficient signal coding technology that can transmit more data bits at the same time.

2. Wi-Fi 7 supports simultaneous operation of multiple frequency bands, including 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz, which allows devices to dynamically select the best frequency band for communication as needed, thereby improving the overall capacity and efficiency of the network.

3. Wi-Fi 7’s multi-link operation supports the use of multiple channels for data transmission at the same time, thereby improving throughput and reliability. The data transmission rate can theoretically reach up to about 30 Gbps, thanks to more efficient multi-user access technology and wider channel bandwidth.

4. In addition to speed, Wi-Fi 7 has also significantly reduced latency. Lower latency means you will enjoy faster network speeds and a smoother experience when doing real-time communications, watching high-definition videos, playing online games, and other applications.

5. Wi-Fi 7’s improved MU-MIMO and OFDMA technologies enable resources to be effectively allocated to each terminal device even when the network is congested, reducing mutual interference. This improves overall network performance. This means that when multiple people use the network at the same time, everyone can get a better network experience.

6. Stronger anti-interference ability, Wi-Fi 7 excels in anti-interference, thanks to wider channel bandwidth and innovative BSS color technology, which can send and receive data over a larger range, thereby improving signal quality and reducing network interference.
