RFID technology: basic knowledge and application scenarios of radio frequency identification

2024-08-22

We have successfully provided RFID antenna solutions to many well-known companies, including industry leaders ZTE and Hikvision. By deeply understanding customer needs, we tailor efficient and reliable RFID antenna solutions for customers, helping ZTE to further improve its intelligence level in the field of communication equipment and solutions, while also adding more powerful identification and tracking capabilities to Hikvision’s security monitoring products.

1. About RFID Technology

1.1 Introduction to RFID Technology

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is a contactless automatic identification technology that uses the transmission characteristics of radio frequency signals and spatial coupling (inductive or electromagnetic coupling) or radar reflection to achieve automatic identification of the identified object.

1.2 Composition of RFID System

A complete RFID system mainly consists of a reader and an electronic tag (tag). The reader is responsible for reading or writing tag information, while the tag is attached to the object to identify the target object. In addition, the antenna transmits radio frequency signals between the tag and the reader.

1.3 Classification of RFID Tags

According to the energy supply method: passive tags, semi-active tags, active tags. According to the working frequency: low frequency (LF), high frequency (HF), ultra-high frequency (UHF), etc.

1.4 Characteristics and Disadvantages of Tags in Different Frequency Bands

Low frequency (LF): The technology is simple, reliable, and mature, but it is not sensitive to metal liquids, the communication rate is low, and the working distance is short. High frequency (HF): The communication rate is high, the working distance is long, and multiple tags can be read at the same time, but the distance is not far enough and the antenna size is large. Ultra-high frequency (UHF): It has a long range, small antenna size, and can read multiple tags at the same time, but the frequency band regulations of different countries are different and the transmission power is limited.

2. About RFID products

2.1 Product Process Introduction

Antenna process flow: including aluminum film PET coating printing, etching, degreasing and cleaning steps. Reverse packaging process: involves antenna raw material debugging, reverse packaging machine dot conductive glue, chip binding, etc.

2.2 Processing product types
