The VLG V2142-002-A-01 shark fin antenna combines a 4G LTE antenna, an AM/FM radio path and two GNSS antenna paths in one roof-mounted housing. The configuration is one LTE path, one shared AM/FM radio path and two GNSS paths. A second GNSS feed can serve another onboard receiver where the system architecture requires it. Two GNSS paths do not, by themselves, establish dual-frequency positioning or a dual-LTE MIMO configuration. Match each cable to its assigned receiver port before testing.
Check the operating bands against the vehicle modem and destination network. The listed LTE ranges are separate bands, rather than continuous coverage from 800 to 2690 MHz. For navigation, evaluate the receiver, antenna location and nearby transmitting systems together. Satellite visibility and receiver processing determine the resulting position solution; antenna gain alone is not a positioning-accuracy specification.
Plan the mounting hole, roof curvature, sealing surface and harness bend radius before assembly. The GNSS and AM/FM active circuits have different supply requirements. Verify bias voltage and current at their respective ports, and test navigation reception while LTE is transmitting. Confirm the sealing arrangement on the assembled vehicle as well as the antenna housing rating.
The specified configuration has one LTE path. A modem requiring multiple cellular antenna ports needs a corresponding multi-port antenna arrangement.
Reception still depends on satellite visibility. Continuous positioning through an obstruction requires additional system capabilities, such as inertial sensing and dead reckoning.
